Database management in Excel allows you to structure, interconnect and analyze information efficiently. This one-day course will introduce you to the essential techniques for creating, managing and optimizing databases in Excel, a key tool in the Office Suite. You will learn how to structure your data, perform complex extractions and calculations, and synthesize large amounts of information quickly and accurately.

Objectives

  • Create, modify and efficiently manage a database on Excel.

  • Perform extractions and calculations from an Excel database.

  • Quickly synthesize and cross-reference large quantities of data by integrating advanced calculations.

Prerequisites

  • Target audience: Users with a good command of Excel who wish to deepen their skills in database management.

  • Prerequisites: Proficiency in fundamental Excel functions, such as creating tables and graphs, as well as developing simple calculation formulas.

Program

Day 1:

Mastering the creation and management of a data file:

  • Create a data range.

  • Convert a range to a data table.

  • Manage calculations at the bottom of the table.

Using Form Mode in Excel:

  • Perform sorting using the sort tool.

  • Manipulating subtotals in Excel.

  • Create subtotals from a range of data.

  • Use different subtotaling functions.

  • Use the outline mode and its features (title management, text organization).

  • Delete subtotals.

Filtering data on Excel:

  • Set up and use an automatic filter.

  • Use advanced automatic filters.

  • Define the data area, criteria area and response area.

  • Perform extractions with simple and complex criteria.

Creating Pivot Tables:

  • Define and use the PivotTable Wizard.

  • Create a chart linked to the pivot table.

Teaching methods

  • Positioning test before the training to assess the level of participants and adjust the program.

  • Practical exercises on a computer workstation.

  • Course support in the form of a memo for review and post-training reference.

  • Preliminary self-assessment to identify specific needs.

  • Assessment of acquired skills at the end of training to validate the skills acquired.
